Sugar Addiction

There are different types of sugar addiction.

sugar addiction

  • Type 1 addicts use sugar and caffeine to keep themselves awake, and tend to be addicted to energy drinks.
  • Type 2 addicts are suffering from adrenal failure and use sugar to keep themselves going when they are exhausted or stressed out. These are the hypoglycemics, the people whose blood sugar drops and leaves them irritable, shaky, and tearful.
  • Type 3 addicts have sugar cravings caused by an overgrowth of yeast. These people spend a lot of time eating and wanting to eat foods with a lot of sugar and white flour because it makes them feel better.
  • Type 4 addicts have hormonal imbalances and crave sugar to stave off irritability and depression. This applies to men as well as women, though it is most often characterized by women with PMS, or menopausal problems.

  • You are what you eat, so if you are eating a lot of sugar and starch, then it is no wonder that you are probably experiencing a plethora of medical ailments. Sugars and starches are basically empty calories, nutritionally defunct and sure to cause a ton of side effects.

Ssugar addiction that can also affect your brain cells. Sugar and sweets are capable of causing chemical changes in your brain as those that occur for heroin addicts or cocaine.

Some researchers in collaboration with the University of Princeton, recently made public the results of their study based on observation of the behavior of some laboratory animals induced to consume excessive sugar dissolved in water for a period of about three or four weeks.

The result was that the mice ate the food available more quickly and drank a lot of sugar water. The solution used in the water of mice guinea pig contained ten percent of sugar, or the equivalent of a soft drink.

The Research Manager, Bart Hoebel, a professor of psychology at Princeton sais: "The results on animal models suggest that excessive consumption of sugar can lead the brain into a condition similar to that of drug addiction."
In the brains of mice can be seen a spike in dopamine after intake of sugar. When the rats no longer dtink water with sugar, the level of dopamine in the brain slows down and become obvious signs of abstinence manifested by anxiety: mice grind their teeth and prefer to stay in their burrows rather than explore the maze.

Drugs, in fact, raise or lower the level of dopamine in the same areas of sugar.

According to Dr. Scott Olson, a medical expert in alternative medicine, sugar harms us in three ways: by increasing the body weight, causing insulin resistance and intoxicating blood vessels in the same way the smoke poisons the lungs.

Here are some tips to overcome the sugar addiction:

  • Begins with the intake of protein and vegetables in the morning, because if you start your day eating sweets and starches is very likely that the trend remains for the rest of the day.
  • Eat more often, eating more often will help reduce the "tremendous" craving for sugar.
  • Eat more fruit: it contains not refined sugars that reduce the need for elaborate desserts. Only the melon has a slightly higher glycemic index than other fruits.
  • Brush your teeth: it seems, in fact, is a great way to turn off the desire for sugar.
  • Exercise to forget the desire for sweets.

  • Will not be easy to reduce sugar addiction, but when you succeed you will feel better, quieter and more energetic.
In short, less sweet in your life make your life sweeter.
