Relieving Constipation

Natural remedies to relieving constipation.

Constipation is quite common in modern society and it can lead to malabsorbation and nutritional deficiencies, all of wich can contribute to many other diseases.

Diet, of course is essential to intestinal health; with proper diet and natural remedies you can reverse and prevent your constipation.

Recommendations:

  • Fibers, present in all whole begetables, fruits and grains, are essential for intestinal health.
  • Fiber increase naturally the frequency and quantity of bowel movements.
The general recommendation for fiber consumption is approximately 35 grams per day.
America's favourite foods such as meat, fat, refined sugar and white flour, have little or not fiber.

Part of each fiber is soluble and part insoluble.

Insoluble fiber is cellulose, the main fiber in the cell walls off all plants food. This fiber absorbs water, but it doesn't dissolve in it. Bran is a great source of insoluble fiber.
Insoluble fiber adds bulk to your fecal material, helping the stool pass more quickly through the intestines.

Soluble Fibers dissolve in water and form a soft gel in your intestine, allowing for an easier and faster transit time, so, they relieves constipation by softening and pushing through impacted fecal matter.

Both soluble and insoluble fibers are necessary for regular bowel movements; a good rule to follow is to eat raw foods rich in fiber to decrease the bowel transit time and to produce a high volume, soft stool. All refined, syntetic foods must be eliminated and replaced with enzyme-rich raw foods.

If you want an indication about the best fiber for constipation, I can say, based on my personal experience that Soluble fiber is the single greatest dietary aid for preventing and cure Constipation.
Particularly, I recommend you the powder made from Psyllium seed husks also known as ispaghula, isabgol, or simply as psyllium, a portions of the seeds of the plant Plantago ovata, a native of India and Pakistan.

Every 100 grams of psyllium provides 71 grams of soluble fiber; a similar amount of oat bran would contain only 5 grams of soluble fiber.
Psyllium also comes in capsules and in cewable wafers. You can buy psyllium seeds in your healt-food store. They're often called "flea seeds".
Mix a teaspoon of powder in a glass of water or juice every morning and evening before bed, and drink it down immediately.
If you use the capsules or wafer form, drink immediately 8 oz. of liquid. You should see results in 12-24 hours.

  • Drink a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water every day. Because the colon needs water to do its job, dehydration can be a major cause of constipation.

  • Several studies have shown the benefits of lactobacteria on chronic constipation; these studies have determinated that the best effect against chronic constipation, is achieved with an intake of 200 milliliters (six ounces) oer day of acidophilus milk. So, taking probiotics supplements, eating yogurt, or drinking acidophilus milk is a great help to relieving constipation without any negative side effects.

I suggest you to start with a 1/2 teaspoon each of L. Acidophilus, B Bifidum, L. Bulgaricus powders mixed together in 8 ounces of filtered water, three times daily, before meals. Then, increse to 1 teaspoon.

  • Always choose the highest quality probiotics.
