  • Maintaining the functional properties of probiotic supplements during manufacture, formulation and storage are essential steps in delivering health benefits to consumers.
    The main difficult is getting probiotic supplements into your intestine in an active form.These bacteria, can be destroyed during the manufacturing process, by light, heat and also by acids in the stomac.

    As a general rule, the bacteria should be stored in a dark (never plastic) container and they will need to be refrigerated after the opening.
    It is best to take probiotics on an empty stomach (at least 30-60 minutes before eating) to avoid the acidity of the stomac during ingestion of food.

    I suggest you to purchase your suplements from a company known for quality and to look for a batch number and for expiration date.
    Powered products should contain at last 2 billions bacteria per 1/2 teaspoon amount.
    The highest quality products containing all three probiotics have to offer 5 billion of L. Acidophilus, 20 billion of B. Bifidum, 5 billion of L. Bulgaricus.
    Additionally I suggest you to choose a product that have the word "not centrifuged" on the label.

    To understand the work of probiotics and to test their strength, you can add 4 capsules of probiotic product to 6 oz. of milk. If the product is active, the milk will ferment into a yogurt-like substance in 24-48 hours.

    Recommended Regimen: I suggest you to start with a 1/2 teaspoon each of L. Acidophilus, B Bifidum, L. Bulgaricus powders mixed together in 8 ounces of filtered water, three times daily, before meals. Then, increse to 1 teaspoon of each. You will begin to notice improvements in areas other than your digestive system, such as skin, immune system,infections,vaginal problems etc...
