Mercury Element ToxicMercury Element Toxic Mercury is a highly toxic element responsible for several diseases caused by inhalation or ingestion. Mercury comes mainly from pesticides and large fish. The amount of mercury present in fish is directly proportional to the size of the fish. Mercury reaches lakes, rivers and oceans through industrial waste. It penetrates the bacteria which are then absorbed by algae, then fish eat the algae and man eat fish. Industrial workers are exposed to mercury products they make. Mercury is used to fill teeth, contaminating the air (with high speed drills) and the skin of dentists. Over the years the mercury dental fillings is dispersed and is partially absorbed. Mercury is in the market products containing mercurous chloride, as some laxatives containing calomel (mercurous chloride). The continued use of these products may lead to the accumulation of mercury in tissues and brain. Some preparations containing mercury are added to some cosmetics to kill bacteria. These preparations may enter the body after being absorbed by the skin. High levels of mercury in children can cause serious neurological problems and thimerosal in vaccines was linked to autism and other adverse neurological side effects in vaccineted children. Read Here to learn what is thimerosal. Approximately 10% of ingested mercury accumulates in the brain. Two types of mercury, methyl mercury and phenyl, consume zinc present in brain tissue. Methyl mercury (that found in fish) can cause nerve problems, birth and genetic disorders. Some studies have shown damage to the chromosomes of people consuming contaminated fish. Among the symptoms of intoxication from methyl mercury there are the loss of coordination, intellectual lucidity, impaired vision and hearing. Organic mercury can cause redness, irritation and blistering of the skin. Inhalation of mercury vapor can cause chest pain, fever, cough and chills. Symptoms of mercury poisoning in subacute form include excessive salivation, stomatitis and diarrhea; in the case of neurological disorders may occur Parkinson tremors, dizziness, irritability, mood changes and depression. Other sypmtoms of mercury element toxic can be psychosis, loss of teeth, insomnia, fatigue, headache, numbness of the lips, hands and feet, loss of memory. The average daily intake of mercury from food is estimated at about 0.5 milligrams. Ingestion of a small dose of 100 milligrams of mercuric chloride causes symptoms of poisoning, while 500 milligrams are usually fatal, unless the person is not treated immediately.
