Herbs for Colon Cleansing

Learn about benefits of Herbs for Colon Cleansing.

Generally, a good colon cleanse combination will include herbs to stimulate colon muscles, herbs to prevent gas and cramping, blood purifying botanicals and a fiber source.

The herbal laxative will loosen the bowels and help speed intestinal contents through the system.

Many herbs promote intestinal cleansing and the elimination of toxins and build-up fecal matter.
However, some herbs, such as cascada sagrada and senna that are very powerful are not suitable for long periods of time.

The following herbs are powerful for colon cleansing without being agressive.

  • Aloe vera: pure aloe vera juice is known to aid in the healing of stomach disorders, ulcers, constipation, hemorrhoids, rectal itching, colitis, and all colon problems. In particular, it can help soothe the ileocecal valve, the ascending or descending colon, or the entire digestive tract when it is irritated.
I suggest you to drink a quarter cup of aloe vera juice, twice a day.

  • Psyllium Husks: is one of the safe and natural laxatives we may have. Use the powdered form of psyllium husk which is a more concentrated form of fiber, not the whole husk or seeds.
The best way to take psyllium husk powder is to mix two rounded teaspoons with six ounces of warm soy milk;then drink it fast, as it coagulates quickly!

  • Flaxseed: is high in mucilage, essential fatty acids and provides a bulking effect.

  • Yellow Dock: has mild laxatives qualities useful for constipation in elderly and during pregnancy.

  • Chinese Rhubarb: is laxative and purgative with astringent, cleansing effects.

  • Dandelion: has a gentle laxative action, stimulating bile production and liver function.

  • Buckthorn: is the common name for a variety of different species of shrubs and small trees originating primarily from Europe. It is a strong laxative; use only when gentler herbs fail.

  • Warning: many products labeled as “dieters teas” contain plant-based laxatives such as senna, aloe, and buckthorn, which can cause uncomfortable and dangerous symptoms when consumed in excessive amounts.
