The following are some of the most common types of human worms.

Pinworms

is the most commonly reported cause of intestinal infestation; this is small, white, usually affecting children.
The infestation is favored by poor sanitary conditions, the presence of individuals carrying in schools, kindergartens etc..
The eggs hatch within the upper gastrointestinal tract and the larvae mature during their migration to the colon.

The female (who lives 3 months) lays its eggs in the anal region, the eggs take root through a kind of adhesive tape. These worms cause severe itching in the anal region ; sometimes the children may experience episodes of appendicitis or have weight loss, eosinophilia, allergy, dermatitis , microcytic iron deficiency anemia or macrocytosis deficiency, irritability, insomnia and seizures at night.

The diagnosis is based on clinical signs as the itching of the anus and the small worms in the stool.

Taenia saginata

or tapeworm, of which man is the only definitive host ,can colonize the small intestine and grow up to 10 meters long, inside the intestines.
The infestation generally follows the assumption of undercooked meat containing the parasite at the stage of cysts; it is more common in areas where hygiene conditions are precarious. In the intestine, bile salts dissolve the cyst shells and release larvae. The parasite has on its head 4 cups muscle, called scolex, enabling him to adhere to the mucosa of the small intestine; the rest of the body is divided into segments called proglottids. Eggs are eleiminate with faeces, and are harmless to humans.

Roundworm

, Ascaris lumbricoides is a 30 cm long worm, living in the small intestine; the infection is through eggs that are found in the slurry used to fertilize fields.

Up to 20% of the world's population is chronically infected with Giardia lamblia.It is a unicellular microorganism, a disc-shaped, fitted with an adhesive disk that contaminates water and sewage, and spreading in real epidemics, where hygiene conditions are precarious.
Everyone, sooner or later come into contact with the giardia and gastroenteritis Giardia lamblia. The symptoms of giardiasis consist of abdominal discomfort, or loose stools and the diagnosis relies parasitological examination of stool or duodenal aspiration.
