Constipation Remedies
Learn about natural constipation remedies.

There are many remedies for constipation, but particularly important are the so-called natural remdies.
The use of laxatives to treat constipation cause more harm than good because it does not involve the regularization and it also irritate the intestinal mucosa, which only worsens the situation.
Drugs laxatives can result in dependency if used for too long. Your digestive system "forget" how to have a bowel movement without them. So,even when used sparingly and just in emergencies,
laxatives should be approached with great caution.
The following are my suggested, safe, natural constipation remedies:
Increased Dietary Fiber Bulk-forming agents such as psyllum and polycarbophil are basically fiber wich holds water in feces to make them softer and easier to evacuate.
Polycarbophil restores normal moisture levels to the intestine and helps produce well-formed stools.
Psyllium, also referred to as ispaghula (or isphagula), is derived from the husks of the seeds of Plantago ovata . Psyllium contains a high level of soluble dietary fiber.
Plycarbophil and Psyllium are the safest method to use for relief of constipation but be sure to take them with plenty of water.Drink a full 8-ounce glass of water in order to reduce the risk of bowel obstruction.
Increased fiber intake can cause temporary distention or flatulence wich often diminishes over several days. Increases in dosages should made gradually. Recommendations for dietary fiber intake for adults fall within the range of 20 to 35 grams per day and for children 3.4 to 16 grams by mouth daily.
Avoid taking other oral medications within 2 hours before or after you take psyllium or polycarbophil. Bulk-forming laxatives can make it harder for your body to absorb other medications.
