Constipation Pain
This page is dedicated to Constipation Pain.
Constipation is the delayed or difficult passage of hard, dry stools. They usually hurt or cause pain when they are passed.
Passing hardened stool is painful and may cause anal fissures.
So, some people or children may inadvertently suppress the next urge to defecate because of pain.
The rectum gradually becomes distended and adjusts to the ever-present bulk of stool. The urge to defecate becomes less frequent. Stool, becomes larger and firmer than before and causes even more anal pain.
It is a vicious cycle that can lead to severe constipation. In this situation, people will experience abdominal pain from forceful intestinal contractions.
People who are constipated often experience straining, bloating and the sensation of a full bowel.
Additionally, if the digestion and absorption of food in the small intestine are incomplete, the undigested material enters the large intestine, where bacterial action produces excessive gas, and possibly bloating and pain.
Constipation is also a very common cause of flatulence because the contents of the intestine are dammed up, they trap gas and create discomfort.
Constipation may also produce back pain. Back pain can occur as result of colonic distention and pressure, or from straining efforts of the patient to empty the bowels.
Keeping your bowel routine regular and your bowel movements easy to pass is important.
Opt for small, regular meals. Keep the meals low in fat. Eat anything that does not irritate your gut, consider a natural detox diet to improve your bowel movements.
