Benefits of Sunflower Seeds

This page is dedicated to Benefits of Sunflower Seeds.
benefits of sunflower seeds

The sunflower seed is the fruit of the sunflower (Helianthus annuus).

Sunflower seeds are different from other foods in the same group since they contain the rare vitamin B12 (4 mcg), almost absent in other foods of plant origin, and a record content of vitamin B1 (1.36 to 2.2 mg), the highest by far among all food.
Also good is the value of vitamin A (40 mcg), D (22 mcg), E (31 mg) and PP (3.3 mg).
Sunflower seeds are also precious for the rich content of magnesium and selenium.
Many studies have also shown a large presence of chlorogenic acid, which plays a valuable action to protect the organism against infections.

A dditionally, Sunflower seeds contain a wide variety of nutrients and protective plant compounds known as phytosterols.
Phytosterols are well known for their ability to lower cholesterol. They are minimally absorbed from the small intestine, so they do not enter the bloodstream. Additionally, phytosterols stop or slow absorption of dietary cholesterol and cholesterol made by the liver.

This superfood is a good source of linoleic acid. In a recent study, women who had the highest intakes of linoleic acid had a 23 percent lower risk of heart disease, compared with those with the lowest intakes.

The thiamine in sunflower seeds and the vitamin B also help the production of stomach acid.
Sunflower seeds also provide fiber, which helps the colon do its job and contributes to detoxifying the body.

I suggest you to look for raw sunflower seeds, rather than those roasted in oil and salted.
You can use sunflower seeds in your granola, cereals, baked goods, salads.

Personally, I love raw Sunflower seeds. These were so fresh, with a wonderful flavor. I put them in salads and just a wonderful healthy snack. I will be buying them again and again!

Tip: Mix 1 part Raw Sunflower Seeds; 1 Part Flax Seeds; and 1 Part Sesame Seeds.
Add 1-2 Tablespoons to your food each day. (Add to a smoothie, sprinkle over desserts or cereal, etc.) Use daily and constipation will no longer be a problem. Really!
