benefits of astragalus

Astragalus is a member of the legume family that grow to a height of sixteen inches.

Astragalus has been used as an herbal tonic for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine and in Native American.
Herbal medicine uses long, thin diagonal sections of astragalus root.

Astragalus is a toning diuretic in kidney inflammation. It nourishes exhausted adrenals to combat fatigue and help to detoc the lympatic system.
It is a strong antiviral agent, producing extra interferon in the body. If you tend to get cold and flu often, this herb can help you build up a natural resistence.

Studies done on mice also suggest that astragalus enhances tumor cell distruction.
This amazing herb also treats infections caused by Proteus, wich can cause kidney stones.

Research done on Astragalus suggests daily doses of 9-25 grams of the herb daily.

Unlike many medicinal herbs, Astragalus is quite safe for everyday use and in large doses. It should be used with caution by anyone who is on immuno-supressive theraphy, such as people with autoimmune diseases and those who have received organ transplants.

Personally, I add Astragalus powder to soups and yogurt that I consume through the day. I manage to ingest about 15 grams a day or the equivalent of 30 capsules and I do see a therapeutic benefit especially in the area of overall immunity.

Astragalus is available as a tincture or in capsule or tablet form.
